Wazzup

Long time, no post. My nose should be disappearing soon from having been on the grindstone all these days.
All the carpentry is finished on the addition and as soon as this little rainy season is over, the painting will commence. Oh I wish this project was done already!
The weather is really warming up here and summer will be upon us before we know it. I am enjoying the beautiful blooms though. The jonquils did better than last year, and they are always a pleasure to behold.

House repair update

Finally got some photos of the further progress of the repair /residing work that was started in November. As you recall, (you do don't you?), the rafter ends were exposed. I decided to close them in and stapled hardware cloth to the opening above the siding to keep critters OUT of the attic space over my sewing room. There is still a small amount of work to finish the trim on the east side, caulking, window trim, etc. then the painting can proceed.

so cheerful

oh to be young again..

the azaleas are blooming too--what??
The weather has remained glorious all week and many things are blooming and some perennials are coming up. A few of the ferns have sent up new growth, but the Mayapples haven't shown themselves---weird. There are several shrubs that I don't know the "real" name for, but we called them bride's bouquet when I was a kid. Huge bushes of these plants grew at my father's TV repair shop--long gone now except in my favorite memories. My sister and I would gather armloads of the flowering branches and play wedding. Like I said, we were children and full of fantasies. When ever these shrubs bloom, I think back to those carefree days and have happy thoughts.

Tech update

Tried out the Skull Candy earbuds and they just weren't what I liked. So I am still using the ones that came with the Ipod. I do love having music while I walk, makes it so much better and the weird internal dancing is helping me stay loose. I unconsciously move my shoulders and keep my head up with the music going.
When I'm at the house (and driving around) I listen to all that nasty rock'n'roll on Sirius radio. Deep Tracks is the fave station for me. Life is good.

Almost done

Yesterday was an absolutely glorious day, sunny, warm, unusual for this time of year. My son was here to work on the house, getting the final bits of carpentry finished, so we can paint and call it a day! In between board holding, I took out a lot of the dead bamboo stalks from the little forest of it that we have. Ugh! There are so many that still need to be broken up and put on the curb. Maybe next weekend will be as nice and the sanitation crew will haul away the pile of stuff on Friday so I can get the rest out.
The art show at the Jewish Community Center comes down on Wednesday and I have my fingers crossed for good sales.

21st Century calling

So last week I went to breakfast with my son and we also had a little retail therapy at the bookstore and electronics store. We both wound up with ipods, I got the Touch and he got the Classic. I'd been thinking about having one since before Xmas and decided to treat myself since I didn't get myself anything "big" for that pesky winter holiday in December, or the one from last week. It is really a wonderful thing and has enhanced my walking experience greatly.
Or course, there were some issues with the earbuds and my tiny delicate ears, so today, after perusing the sale ads in the newspaper, I bought some nifty Skullcandy ear thingies. They were a smokin' hot deal, so if they don't live up to my expectations, I won't feel too cheated. They have three sizes of little rubber bumpers (?) and seemed okay when I stuck them in my head for a minute. But the real test will be on the road.
It is so nice to have my favorite music come along with me for my 4 miles of exercise. My mood is elevated when I'm back home and I think I loosen up too, because my upper back isn't stiff after walking anymore. And I'm very careful not to be singing along when I approach other walkers/runners. That would be embarrassing.
The other thing I like about it is I can check to see if I have any new email (when I'm in a wifi zone, anyway) before I go to the trouble of logging onto my laptop and I can check the weather report in a jiffy. Another part I like is that I was able to set up the ipod almost by myself, the email part, and only had to get help for the music downloading. It is good to have patient children.

Happy Valentine's Day

This isn't going to be about this particular holiday, just thought I'd say it for fun.

wouldn't you like to have all these pieces in your home?
On Sunday, some of us from the Memphis Association of Craft Artists set up our show at the Jewish Community Center. As always, it looks great. I'm always so surprised at how well the art goes together at one of our shows, considering there are so many different media and we use widely varying colors in our art work. The gallery director did get the lighting sorted out since these photos were taken, so it is even better looking now.

Wazzup

Got a comment yesterday about my lack of posting. There's just not much to write home about. I have been busy and enjoying myself lately with sewing and quilting projects and reading a Margaret Atwood novel.
On Sunday, I'm scheduled to help hang an art show with Memphis Association of Craft Artists at the Jewish Community Center. So when that is done I will have some nice photos to post. Stay tuned.
