The opening for the art quilt show I helped organize was on Thursday at Wings Gallery inside the West Clinic. It was a raging success. All the artists but one showed up and two sales were made. One of the sales was made before the show opened!!! Hurray Linda!! All the quilts were beautiful and arranged in a most pleasing manner. The show will be up till May 22. Fingers crossed for more sales. For some strange reason, I did not get photos of all the quilts, but you get the idea of how great they look. Huge thanks to all my friends who helped me out with this project.

PROGRESS

ALL the painting is DONE!!!!!! Yippee!!! When my time gets freed up a bit, I will tackle the landscaping and I am using that term VERY loosely. More like yardening. The back of the yard is completely crazy and will require days of attention getting it back in order. Maybe a bulldozer would help there..hahaha...but at least things are moving in a forward direction.
Last evening I delivered lots of beautiful art quilts--made by friends and myself--to the gallery at West Clinic. The opening reception is Thursday, April 19. Photos will be posted after that.

Mud Pies

Now that the painting is finished (except for the triangle, which will get done this weekend) the landscaping is in motion. My son was here to help get started on stabilizing the edge of the water garden. We are using concrete blocks I have scavenged from curbs. Water dynamics is playing a big part in this project. That and brute force, which is why my son comes in so handy.
   We worked on it for a little while today after I took a break from the grindstone (ugh) but the rain came back and we had to cease and desist. When all this is done, my little garden outside the sewing room door is going to be so wonderful and soothing to look at. I am being a little more judicious in the plantings this time to avoid that overblown feeling. No more plants that want to run rampant. They will have a new home to go crazy in.
   While I was restarting the pump in the pond, I saw a few hardy souls in there. One of the goldfish was pretty good sized. Whew! There are still living things in the water.

Looking Good

The painting is all done except for a small part at the top of the east side. That will have to get done, hopefully, next weekend. The grindstone has priority for my time this weekend. UGH...........More later.

What a week!

FINALLY the painting got started thanks to my husband. He took a week of his vacation to work on finishing this project and it looks AMAZING!! In the middle of the week, I fell out with the flu, but got up Saturday and took photos and will post them in a day or two. It made me think about when the rest of the house got painted a few years ago and I had strep throat. Maybe home improvement isn't good for me...hmmmm.....
   Oh well, the outside is looking great, now the inside needs some spiffing up. But where to start???

Wazzup

Long time, no post. My nose should be disappearing soon from having been on the grindstone all these days.
  All the carpentry is finished on the addition and as soon as this little rainy season is over, the painting will commence. Oh I wish this project was done already!
The weather is really warming up here and summer will be upon us before we know it. I am enjoying the beautiful blooms though. The jonquils did better than last year, and they are always a pleasure to behold.

House repair update

Finally got some photos of the further progress of the repair /residing work that was started in November. As you recall, (you do don't you?), the rafter ends were exposed. I decided to close them in and stapled hardware cloth to the opening above the siding to keep critters OUT of the attic space over my sewing room. There is still a small amount of work to finish the trim on the east side, caulking, window trim, etc. then the painting can proceed.

the azaleas are blooming too--what??

The weather has remained glorious all week and many things are blooming and some perennials are coming up. A few of the ferns have sent up new growth, but the Mayapples haven't shown themselves---weird. There are several shrubs that I don't know the "real" name for, but we called them bride's bouquet when I was a kid. Huge bushes of these plants grew at my father's TV repair shop--long gone now except in my favorite memories. My sister and I would gather armloads of the flowering branches and play wedding. Like I said, we were children and full of fantasies. When ever these shrubs bloom, I think back to those carefree days and have happy thoughts.
